Identification of Histoplasma-Specific Peptides in Human Urine
Histoplasmosis is a severe dimorphic fungus infection, which is often difficult to diagnose due to similarity in symptoms to other diseases and lack of specific diagnostic tests. Urine samples from histoplasma-antigen-positive patients and appropriate controls were prepared using various sample preparation strategies including immunoenrichment, ultrafiltration, high-abundant protein depletion, ...
متن کاملPresence of angiotensin peptides in human urine.
Immunoreactive angiotensin I and angiotensin II were found in human urine that was purified on octadecasilylsilica cartridges. The daily excretion of angiotensin I and II in healthy volunteers was 189.00 (SE 38.36) and 17.54 (SE 3.07) pmol/24 h or 148.09 (SE 32.22) and 12.82 (SE 2.34) pmol/L, respectively (n = 12). No circadian rhythm was observed in the excretion patterns of angiotensin I and ...
متن کاملClinical significance of low-positive histoplasma urine antigen results.
Histoplasma urine antigen (UAg) detection is an important biomarker for histoplasmosis. The clinical significance of low-positive (<0.6 ng/ml) UAg results was evaluated in 25 patients without evidence of prior Histoplasma infection. UAg results from 12/25 (48%) patients were considered falsely positive, suggesting that low-positive UAg values should be interpreted cautiously.

During surveys of amines in the urine of children, Perry et al. (1) and Perry and Schroeder (2) found among the unidentified free bases present a substance which produced an orange-red color when chromatograms were sprayed with diazotized sulfanilic acid. This substance was designated “Compound 9.” Subsequently Compound 9 has been detected in all amine concentrates of unhydrolyzed urines of a l...
متن کاملMass spectrometric identification of aberrantly glycosylated human apolipoprotein C-III peptides in urine from Schistosoma mansoni-infected individuals.
Schistosomiasis is a parasitic infection caused by Schistosoma flatworms, prime examples of multicellular parasites that live in the mammalian host for many years. Glycoconjugates derived from the parasite have been shown to play an important role in many aspects of schistosomiasis, and some of them are present in the circulation of the host. The aim of this study was to identify novel glycocon...
